SHAPING YOUR TRUE STORY WITH CARE

Every writer deserves a compassionate witness.

The Wonder Journal is a one-hour live, online class for anyone who wants to be present—and turn everyday moments into writing that feels honest and alive. All levels welcome.

Is this you?

You have flashes of insight on any given day—and take notes on the backs of envelopes. You love tuning inward, processing, and making meaning. Passages in books about small, overlooked moments stay with you, but you haven't found your way to writing like that.

This workshop begins with a simple belief: small moments carry whole worlds.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Have a fresh, vivid piece of writing centered on one ordinary “moment of truth”

  • Notice how sensory detail and emotional movement reveal truths in everyday stories

  • Experience the power of brevity—seeing and saying more with less

  • Recognize what's already beautiful about your writing

  • Learn simple moves that add clarity, texture, or sparkle

  • Feel what it's like to write from lived experience in a way that's both relaxed and refined

Rather than striving for polished perfection, this workshop offers something quieter: the pleasure of having written something small and true, and the confidence that you can do it again.

Here’s what that looks like.

A brief centering ritual.

An orientation to the craft of small-moment writing.

Playful experiments to generate story ideas and enhance sensory awareness.

Time to write quietly on your own.

A brief introduction to revising without inviting the inner critic to the party.

Optional sharing and supportive witnessing.

A closing moment of celebration—like a kid who can’t wait to show someone their artwork!

The Wonder Journal workshop values presence over performance.

Small-moment writing isn’t about writing less—it’s about going deep, fast, with a light touch.

You’ll create a short piece of writing rooted in a real moment.

What this hour offers.

A note on care.

Many writers come to this workshop carrying material that feels tender. My role is to create a steady, respectful container where this work can emerge without pressure or fear of judgment. Your stories matter, and your voice is enough.

Choose your path.

Both options include the full workshop experience; the difference is how much companionship you’d like as you write.

JOIN WITH COMPANION SUPPORT

Does this workshop stand on its own?

Yes. The Wonder Journal is a complete experience. Some take it as a one-time reset. Some return to the practice again and again. Some discover that one small moment opens the door to much more writing.

If you find yourself wanting to stay with this way of working, there are longer offerings that grow from the same philosophy. But there's no expectation to continue. This workshop is whole in itself.

FAQs

  • Yes. This workshop is for people who feel drawn to writing but may doubt their legitimacy, confidence, or consistency. You don’t need experience, credentials, or a polished voice—only a willingness to notice one real moment from your life and stay with it.

Many participants come precisely because they’ve been circling the work and want a kind, grounded way to begin.

  • That’s not a problem—it’s part of the practice.

You won’t be asked to arrive with a topic, story, or insight prepared. The prompts are designed to help something ordinary and honest surface naturally. Often, the most resonant pieces emerge from moments that initially seem too small to matter.

  • No. Sharing is always optional.

You’ll be invited to write in community, but you’re never required to read your work aloud or disclose anything you’d prefer to keep private. You’re welcome to participate quietly and take from the experience what feels supportive to you.

  • Most participants leave with:

    • a short piece of writing rooted in a real moment

    • a clearer sense of how to return to the page

    • a simple, repeatable practice they can use again

Just as importantly, many leave with renewed trust in their own voice.

  • Both options include the full workshop experience.

The workshop-only option is ideal if you prefer to work independently and reflect privately.

The companion support option is for those who would benefit from a little more presence and reflection as they write, including personal response or guidance afterward.

Neither path is “better”—the difference is simply how much companionship you want.

  • Once each season: near the winter solstice, spring equinox, summer solstice, and fall equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.

The exact dates are announced about four weeks prior to the session, and you can join the waitlist to be notified by email.
